Who This Pathway Is For
Temporary registration is for physiotherapists who are licensed in another Canadian province or territory and want to practise in Nova Scotia for a short, specific purpose.
Examples include:
- Cross-border practice: Providing short-term care to Nova Scotia patients, in person or by tele-rehab, while based in another province or territory.
- Special events: Providing physiotherapy services at tournaments, competitions, or public events.
- Course participation or instruction: Teaching or taking a course that includes a clinical component.
- Emergency staffing: Providing services during a declared state of emergency.

Registration Category
Temporary registrants are placed on the Conditional Register and issued a temporary licence.
- Licence conditions are set based on the approved purpose and dates.
- The licence is valid only for the approved purpose and timeframe.
Eligibility
You must:
- Hold a current, unrestricted physiotherapy licence in another Canadian province or territory.
- Be in good standing, with no suspension or open investigation.
- Have a Regulatory History Form sent directly to NSRPT from your home regulator.
- Provide proof of professional liability insurance.
- Provide government-issued photo ID.
- Clearly state the reason for your request, including dates and details.
- Complete all required declarations.
- Pay applicable fees (temporary and cross-border fees are non-refundable).

- Cross-border practice: patient group, service location(s), and dates.
- Special events: event name, dates, location(s), and your role.
- Course participation or instruction: course name, provider, dates, and details of any clinical component.
- Emergency staffing: nature of the emergency and expected dates of practice.
